2015 Volkswagen E-Golf or the completely electric vehicle
|   Wednesday, September 11, 2013
Ever since the first Golf ever launched in 1974, Volkswagen has made impressive progress with every single model released, reaching up to 30 million cars sold all over the world. Even though it is still a very trusted and respected brand, Volkswagen will certainly not stop here.

The latest project of the company is an entirely electric vehicle which will actually be presented to the public one of these days at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car's appearance is exactly the same as Golf's but the biggest surprise is the absolutely contemporary technology, optimized rolling resistance and the best aerodynamics.

Another absolutely new feature that has been added to the latest Volkswagen E-Golf, besides the LED type of headlights, is the effective electric motor which allows the vehicle drive up to 118 miles using the developmental braking and a newly designed system "Discover Pro".

On the inside the upcoming vehicle has also kept a lot of characteristics and options belonging to the basic Golf. However, the panel and touchscreen are entirely redesigned and look very futuristic in order to match the performance of the vehicle.

One awkward detail would be the fact that the speedometer is only designed to go up to 160 km/h while a distinct screen will show whenever the car is ready to go, right after the engine is started. Of course, like any other contemporary car, the E-Golf has also been equipped with automatic climate control, heated windscreen, "merlin e-grey/clip titanium black" pattern for the seats and parking ventilation.

Motorized by an EEM 85 electric motor which is able to deliver 115 hp and to produce 199 pound-feet of torque, the vehicle will be able to reach 60 km/h in 4.2 seconds and continue up to 100km/h in 10.4 seconds. The driving range of this latest e-Golf is somewhere between 130 and 190 km. The battery which electrifies the electric motor is a lithium-ion battery placed under the rear and front seats; the total weight of the battery is 318 kg and is made up of 264 individual cells.

There are three types of driving variants offered by the upcoming Golf model: Eco, Eco+ and Normal. The most interesting one, the Eco+, is able to deliver 73 hp and 129 pound feet of torque reaching up to 90 km/h. Also, a vehicle like this one could not have been otherwise but outfitted with a regenerative braking system, customized on different levels: D1, D2, D3 going further to B.

The main competitors of the 2015 Volkswagen E-Golf are the Audi A3 e-tron and Ford Focus Electric. Taking into consideration the fact that E-Golf is actually quite a premiere for Volkswagen we might take this as an excuse but the Ford Focus electric might be more powerful and prove to actually become more successful. On the other hand, the Audi A3 e-tron might be a bit faster.

Eager fans of Volkswagen and green cars at the same time should wait just about 1 year and a half in order to acquire the latest Volkswagen E-Golf. We are waiting for Volkswagen to release even more electric concepts and integrate them in as many models as possible.
