2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS release date delayed
|   Thursday, June 05, 2014
In automobile market, it is pretty common to come across obstacles. However, it is not every day that a brand like Porsche delays the release of their upcoming car, and that also because of a major problem with their power train. This is not expected from a major automobile manufacturing company.

Porsche was to release their 911 GT3 RS in this year's summer. However, they have decided to delay the release in order to accommodate some changes in their power train.
They were primarily thinking of fitting a 3.8 liter engine which was not turbocharged and had six cylinders. Power output of this engine was expected at 468 bhp.

However, there have been some major problems with this engine. These problems have been termed as fire problems. Now they are reconsidering this power train. They are thinking of replacing this engine with a turbocharged engine. There are both positive as well as negative sides of this change.

Reliability is the main problem that is being addressed by changing power train. Security is very important when you are trying to make a good car that must be able to drive safely on road. So having ‘fire problem' in engine is not a good thing for a big name in automobile industry like Porsche.

Going to history of Porsche 911, there has been no previous model of this car that has been fitted with a turbocharged engine. But if situation demands then it is vital to change power train of their upcoming car. And some change is inevitable, considering that Porsche has decided to delay release of the all important car of their lineup.

Porsche Cayman is going to be fitted with a turbocharged engine, as sources have confirmed. The car is going to have a turbocharged four cylinder engine with a power output of 400 bhp. It is impressive figures.

There is a correlation between Cayman and 911 GT3 RS. Rear wheel steering that has been a part of 911 GT3 is being considered to be fitted in Cayman. Also, Porsche 911 GT3 RS might have a six cylinder turbocharged engine. So fate of one car can be guessed from performance of other one.

There is bad news as well connected to Porsche 911 GT3 RS getting a turbocharged engine as well. It will mean that neither 911 GT2 nor 911 GT2 RS is going to have any new models in future. A renewal of model would essentially require adding a turbocharged engine.

If a turbocharged engine is added to 911 GT2 or 911 GT2 RS then it will be quite similar to the 911 GT3 RS under consideration. So if one gets better, there is little chance for the other to prosper.

Turbocharged engines have had a good track record in past. So taking everything into consideration, if the Porsche 911 GT3 RS gets a turbocharged engine then it will be a good change. Car enthusiasts all over the world are expecting to see this car soon on the road.
