2014 Porsche Cayman S - redesigned and more agile
|   Tuesday, September 03, 2013
The new Porsche Cayman S will be launched not only as a very innovative sport car but also as a luxurious and impressive designed vehicle which somehow manages to bring back the image and spirit of Porsche 904.

The Coupe will be available in two versions: The Base and S. The Base version will feature a 275 hp, 2.7 liter flat six cylinder engine including a direct fuel injection. On the other hand, the S version will be lifted up to 325 hp, 4 liter flat six cylinder engine, also including direct fuel injection.
The Base and S will both have six speed manual transmission.

As expected, the exterior design has been upgraded with a set of 18 inch alloy wheels for the Base variant, while the S version will feature 19 inch alloy wheels, both versions will have the latest Bi-Xenon headlights. Also, some might also be impressed by the newly featured ventilated four wheel anti-lock disc brakes which features a very useful brake assist.

In terms of safety, the Porsche Cayman S will be equipped with a set of front and side seat, firmly fixed airbags and also a curtain airbag for even more protection for the head. A pressure monitor for the tire will be included just to let the driver know that optimum performance is only reached at optimum tire pressure.

Hi tech accessories that have been featured on this model are not impressive, but just regular one which have lately been included on any type of SUV or sedan as well. It seems that an MP3 compatible and CD player, however with universal audio interface, will be included, a wireless Bluetooth connectivity and an updated system of cruise control.

Looking at the previous 911 Carrera RS model for instance, the 2014 Porsche Cayman S looks quite smooth and neatly proportioned. Also, compared with the previous models, the Cayman S includes a several more aluminum features which make the overall appearance of the body a bit rigid, perhaps. Yet, Cayman S has been announced as 66 pounds lighter that the model released last year.

Exactly like the Boxter model, the latest Cayman S features an extended wheelbase and it also seems that it is a bit more powerful. Those among the Porsche fans who also think about the environment should be very glad to find out that the new Cayman S consumption has been diminished up to 15%. This is quite an impression fuel economy reduction for a sport car and it is possible due to the thermal management system and brake based energy recovery system.
The latest Cayman's recipe has been designed in such a way as to reach superior power and decrease the consumption, quite smart, we would say, it's what the contemporary car expectations demand.

Already available in the showrooms since April this year, the starting price for the 2014 Porsche Cayman that has been made public is $52,600, the more expensive version, Porsche Cayman S will be available with a price starting from $63,800.
