2013 Detroit Auto Show - Vauxhall brings the Adam
|   Thursday, January 10, 2013
Vauxhall plans on showcasing the Adam at the Detroit Auto Show this year prior to its launch in the British market. However Vauxhall needs to make quite a few replacements in the mechanics of the vehicle if they expect this vehicle to sell. The general ride quality of the Adam is quite stuffy and not as refined as people would expect and the engine was quite disappointing too.

However, the biggest flaw with this machine is the mismatch between the engine and the steering control.
Vauxhall was once known for the electrical prowess of its vehicles but the company failed big time with the Adam. As initial reports suggest, Vauxhall plans on installing 18 inch rims as standard on the Adam. Plans are also on to upgrade the way the vehicle presently handles.

However, Vauxhall – Opel is developing a new trend in the British market where they seek to change the way the British market perceives electrical assistance for their vehicles. The chassis of the Adam was designed by the engineers from Opel and was approved by the Vauxhall designing expert Gerry Baker. The Adam had been put through stringent tests for body roll and strength and the vehicle is hugely successful in the field. However, what does not work for the Adam is the coordination between engine displacement and steering control.

The Adam however is greatly successful in the field of electronics implementation and the electronics of the vehicle is distinguished. The interior features a very comfortable ride and the overall space has been increased for more comfort. People can adjust the driver's seat according to their convenience and the ride height is just perfect. Even people over six feet can fit in perfectly, without the slightest difficulty.

Rear seat comfort is also high and the seats provide sufficient thigh support for the passenger. The Adam can perfectly accommodate four adults and three people could also fit in the rear seats. The steering wheel height is also adjustable according to the need of the driver and driving the Adam is not a very easy job. It is not the best driver's machine that we have around and definitely needs improvement.

The overall body balance of the Adam is good and there is no chance of the vehicle flipping over or turning turtle at the corners even at high speeds. However, taking corners fast is not recommended as the steering wheel needs some time to get used to and chances of accidents are not totally absent if that occurs.

Vauxhall needs to work tirelessly on the Adam if they expect this vehicle to sell. The engine needs some serious work and no feeling of satisfaction or refinement is present on the Adam. In fact the 1.4 liter engine is quite crude and needs some serious work. Power production is sufficient but the engine vibration kills all the fun of being inside the cabin of the Adam. Vauxhall has already signaled at an upgrade and this vehicle could be expected at the Detroit Auto Show 2013.
