10th Mini Cooper variant out in the market
|   Tuesday, May 28, 2013
The Paceman is the 10th Mini Cooper variant out in the market. It combines the portability of a mini cooper with a SUV to give the consumers a brand new flavor in vehicles. It has the chassis of a SUV with a 2 door body and with standard sports suspension.

Paceman has been on sale since March 2013. The target audience is consumers who want the extra space of the SUV but do prefer a sportier look. Also with Paceman, Mini Cooper has made some modifications to bring some elements close to standard due to the increased space.
For example the power window switches have now been moved to the doors which are standard for most other cars rather than being in the center panel like previous Mini models.

Mini Cooper is part of BMW which is a German company. The main purpose behind BMW buying Mini Cooper was to get in to the portable, high mileage car business without having t o start manufacturing their own.
Paceman at this point has not made a lot of sales but is expected to pickup in the coming months.

When we talk about Mini Cooper we think of Fun. As all Mini Coopers Paceman also has the Fun side to it. It has a four cylinder turbo charged engine which growls when it's kicked hard. Also being a 4 wheel drive makes sure that it still gets the light weight feeling of a mini cooper even with the bigger size.

Paceman has a style of its own. The shape is very different than the traditional Mini Cooper and other cars so initially it does look different but it's in cool kind of way.

Excellent space especially when it comes to the lateral knee room compared to the size of the car and considering that it has a Mini Cooper hard top. Also having the 3 seat on the back makes it more spacious. Even though the seats are not as comfortable like they should but at least the increased space is something that is much needed.

The controls ar e not ve ry user friendly. Again like with other mini coopers trying to fit everything in a small space is not always the best way to go. A console mounted joystick that takes a lot of motions to get things going, along with a transmission trigger that is angled wrong.

Bluetooth connectivity is good with windows devices and iPhone. Yet to test it on other devices but certainly a plus point compared t other cars.
Noise is one of the major drawbacks of the Paceman. With the smaller size and the driver sitting very close to the tires and engine the sound can be annoying in many cases especially when it comes to longer journeys.

To sum up it all up Paceman is a slightly bigger mini cooper, two doors for four passengers and an all wheel drive. It has been on sale since March 16. The price of the standard version will start at $23,995. It's about 15 inches longer and 4 inch wider than a standard Mini Cooper. Has an average fuel consumption of about 27 miles to a gallon.
