The two successful auto companies Toyota and Ford have recently announced that they will be collaborating on a new type of electric-gas hybrid kind of engine which will be used mainly for heavier vehicles such as pickup trucks or sport utility vehicles.

The two major companies have already signed a deal which will enable them to shave the costs of the development of this new technology. The reason they have given for the collaboration, is that they wish to bring the technology to the market faster and also make it more affordable for the general public.

Both Toyota and Ford already sell hybrid automobiles but there is a different between the engines needed for a truck and the engines needed for a car. Trucks need a lot of power to carry heavy loads or to tow other vehicles or trailers.

The executive vice president of the Toyota auto company, who works in the development and research sector, commented about the collaboration saying that it would make this new hybrid technology more accessible to the general public in sport utility vehicles and heavy trucks. This technology is as yet not been seen in trucks and heavy duty vehicles.

Models like these ones will be extremely useful for American consumers. They are always looking for new technology in work and recreational vehicles. This hybrid technology will not only be providing them with what they want, but it will also be helping the environment by reducing the amounts of greenhouse gasses and conserving energy within the United States.

The hybrid trucks are meant to aid automakers in meeting the new and strict government guidelines for fuel consumption and pollution, both in the United States and throughout the rest of the world.

It will take some time before Toyota and Ford will officially decide exactly how to divide the workload between them, as far as who will research what. The product development chief for Ford stated that it will be a year before any research starts in earnest. After that it will probably be another two or even three years before the technology has been properly developed. The companies have not yet commented on what the gas mileage of this new hybrid vehicle will be.

The system is meant to power some of the Ford pickup trucks in the F-Series. These pickups are some of the best-selling vehicles in the whole of the United States. For Toyota the system is meant to be used to power the Tundra pickup truck which is quite large in size.

It is also meant to be used for some of the rear-wheel drive sports utility vehicles by both Toyota and Ford. The two companies are also planning to collaborate on the development of electronic types of devices which are used with automobiles, like smart-phones which can link up with cars or trucks.

This is the first time that Ford and Toyota will be collaborating on a project together. The companies stated that past these plans, they have no other plans to collaborate on other projects, as of yet.
