The Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet becomes the most expensive and the most extreme convertible off-roader in the world! Only 99 copies will be produced.
In honor of the legendary G-Class, Mercedes presented at the Geneva Motor Show, the first derived Maybach from the history of the model. This is the last special version created from the generation launched 38 years ago.
The imposing Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet measures 5,345 mm in length and 2,235 mm in height. The spacious cabin provides space for 4 people. Incidentally, Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet boasts a wheelbase of 3,428 mm, which exceeds that of Mercedes-Maybach S Class (3,365 mm).
Rear-seat occupants are pampered with individual chairs, taken from the S-Class sedan. These seats have active profiles and elaborated massage functions. The inflatable seat cushions ensure comfort and lateral support, while the massage function uses heat to mimic hot stone massage. The backrests can be lying on his back and the footrests are also expandable. Thus, the passengers enjoy full comfort.
Not only the stature and luxury of this model are overwhelming, but also its power resources. Under the hood is a V12 twin-turbo unit prepared by Mercedes-AMG, which unleashes 630 hp and huge torque of 1,000 Nm.
At the same time, the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet impresses through its off-roader skills of the highest rank.
Ground clearance is 450 mm, the differentials can be engaged on the go, of course, and the reducer completes the necessary functions for motorized climbing. There are technical solutions which have been imposed by the AMG G 63 6 × 6 and G 500, 4 × 42, two extreme off-roaders which have won over the audience, while having a limited production and exorbitant prices. A similar strategy is planned for Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet, which will be produced in only 99 copies.
This model's public debut was scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show in March, but the market launch will take place in autumn, and production will take place at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria. Mercedes-Benz did not currently provide information about G 650 Landaulet price, butwe can take as reference the fact that the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6X6,sold in 2015 for 450,000 euros.
The G 650 Landaulet is a very strong image vector for Mercedes Maybach, which enjoys a commendable success. If Maybach failed to impose on its own, the Mercedes-Maybach formula is proving a winning one. Since its launch in 2015, the sub-brand Mercedes-Maybach sold more than 15,000 models.
More specifically, 1 in 10 models sold from the S-Class is a Maybach version. Therefore, the range will develop further. Besides the sedan based on the S-Class the S 650 Cabriolet has been launched too . There are many rumors about the Maybach GLS and E-Class models versions, and the Vision 6 concept shows that it is exploring the viability of a super-luxury coupe with electric propulsion and high performance.
Ultimately, the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet is a continuation of 100 years of history that the manufacturer has written into an exclusive segment with the Landaulet models. The outstanding examples have been Benz 25/45 PS (1910), Mercedes-Benz 300 d Landaulet (1960), Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet (1964) or, more recently, the Maybach Landaulet (2008).
