This time the BMW has made a new civic vehicle for the urban areas and the company has in fact revealed the first teasers, details and sketches on the upcoming car which is about to enter the market this year. This new production will be manufactured on an innovative Life Drive structure which will ultimately reduce this new model’s weight by 250 to 300kg. This model will be the first quantity-produced car in the world with a passenger compartment made of carbon.

This is of course an electric car and you should know that for electric cars sub-zero temperature is like a poison, decreasing the energy from the batteries as well as decreasing the range and power. But the good news is that this model is more than well-structured for this dare.

BMW i3 is a tall bodied and hatchback which distinguishes it from the previous BMW productions. In comparison to the Mini Co oper the I3 is 120mm long and 132mm tall and provides 200 liters of luggage capacity behind the back seats.

Before we move further, we should know that the head of BMW development revealed that the i3 will be coming in two versions. One is the entirely electric model version with a 125kw/250Nm motor running the back wheels through a permanent-gear transmission, and the second version is a range increasing model coming up with a supplementary 650cc two-cylinder petrol engine which is able to double its driving assortment of 300km. The straight line performance of the i3 is claimed by BMW to go 80 to 120km per hour in maximum 6 seconds.

It has 19inch wheels which are planted to provide greater approval for the battery accumulated in the surface of the structure with less-rolling consistency 155 by 70 shaped front and 175 by 65 shaped back wheels. Due to the inherited firmness of its body pattern made of carbon fiber, it has frameless windows and no B-pillar among the back doors .

The dashboard is horizontal theme design which helps to provide a good amount of space between the passengers and the driver. The gear-lever which is developing from the steering and digital screens’ column including all the other controls is determined within that dashboard.

BMW in its interview with Automotive News, unveiled that they are planning to sell 30,000 units of the new i3 which according to them is comparable to the lower-quantity Mini copied ones. They also revealed when the time of sale comes which is 2013, the price of the new BMW I3 will be about €40,000 in Europe and in United States, it will be a bout $55 ,000 according to the current exchange rates.
