The latest addition to the Seat Ateca range will be officially presented at the Barcelona International Motor Show between the 11th and 21st of May, 2017.
The Spanish brand continues its product offensive, the largest in its history, which included the Ateca’s launch, the new Leon and the new Ibiza, and in the second half of the year will bring a new compact SUV: Arona.
The FR equipment level has been added to the existing Seat Ateca range consisting of: Reference, Style and Xcellence, being located at the same Xcellence equipment level, but provides more sportiness and dynamism. Since launch, SEAT sold over 40,000 Ateca units worldwide. This model, together with the success of the Leon version, Alhambra and Ibiza contributed to SEAT’s achievement of scoring 143 million euros as operating profit in 2016, the highest in the company’s history and marking the fourth consecutive year by sales growth.
Seat Ateca FR differs from Xcellence on the outside by the presence of the FR logo in the front and rear. The longitudinal bars and window frames are black for added differentiation. On closer inspection of the head part it can be seen that the grid has a specific design in glossy black, and the FR exclusive bars are painted at the bottom in the bodywork’s color. The LED front fog lights also received an FR exclusive design.
First of all, the FR features 19-inch rims with 245 / 40R19 tires, also the trim of the wheel arches and the thresholds is painted in the bodywork color, which includes aluminum elements that continues on both doors.
In the back, the rear window is framed by attractive black spoilers and a tailgate spoiler also painted in the bodywork’s color. Inside, the aluminum thresholds with FR logo immediately attracts attention, as soon as you open the doors. The logo is found on the multifunction steering wheel too. This is dressed in leather with shiny black inserts. The sports seats are standard and are upholstered in Alcantara leather and the pedal is made of aluminum.
Red stitching on the steering wheel and seats, both dressed in Alcantara leather, and those on the gear lever, enhance the sporting spirit of SEAT Ateca FR. There are elegant details in black, which add a touch of luxury to the interior, such as ceiling and doors that have a FR finish. The sportiest version for the SEAT Ateca is also offering some of the most advanced driving assistance systems and connectivity technology.
Next, we have a new 2.0 TSI engine with 190 hp that will be available for Seat Ateca range. The FR versions will be equipped with EU6-compliant engines, both petrol and diesel, which will develop 150 and 190 hp, coupled to the manual gearbox, or DSG, that is also available with all-wheel drive. DCC and progressive direction are also available.
“The Ateca FR adds yet another level of excitement to our first SUV. The agile and precise handling of Ateca is reinforced with a touch of dynamism and fun at the wheel, with the FR trim adding for example Dynamic Chassis Control and progressive steering” declared Dr. Matthias Rabe, Seat’s R&D Vice-President. “It's a sportiness that adds to all the technology the Ateca has onboard.”
