Opel Insignia Receives a New Multimedia System at Frankfurt
Opel Insignia and its crossover brother the Country Insignia Tourer will be present at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a new multimedia system. It focuses on three key elements: ease of use, customization offers for infotainment and minimal distraction from traffic.
The touch screen has a small number of buttons and offers a range of connectivity solutions for the modern customer demands who love gadgets. The new member is part of the IntelliLink family which was introduced with the Adam Opel.
The new Insignia marks the introduction of the new generation infotainment system with an 8-inch color touch screen, touch pad, voice command, steering wheel, offering a radically simplified user interface with many options for customization. The driver can access all the main functions and sub-system menus of the multimedia infotainment system via this new interface. Some special abilities of this model include the possibility to store up to 60 personal preferences.
“With the newest-generation infotainment system and ultra-modern touchpad operation, we offer onboard entertainment possibilities unrivalled in this class,” says Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann. “A large display, few buttons and innovative connectivity solutions for real individual mobility all add up to pure driving pleasure in the new Insignia.”
The touchpad is integrated into an ergonomic mode in the center console and offers a completely new, fast, and intuitive access to the infotainment system. The touch panel, handwriting recognition function and fast reaction to finger movement, vibrating slightly to provide tactile feedback, greatly simplify the use without distracting the driver from traffic.
On top of the classic readouts like speed, rpm and fuel tank level, additional driver-targeted details on nav, smartphone use as well as audio options are directly available in the driver’s line of sight.
But the infotainment and navigation system’s usefulness don’t stop there. When looking for a street in the current city, the drivers can just simply enter the street name. If the street is in another city, then the city should be entered right after the street. Entering a country is necessary when the target is actually in a country other than the one the driver is currently is. Entry of the names is done without periods or commas. Things don’t get any faster or easier than this. The street map for over 30 European countries can be displayed in 2D or 3D.
The top infotainment system will be standard equipment on the Insignia Sports and Innovation, while for the Insignia Selection and Edition it can be ordered at a price of 1,200 euros (recommended retail price for Germany, including VAT).
Matching audio experience comes via Bose audio system. Up to 9 speakers, 2 subwoofers, 4 speakers broadband tweeters and a digital sound processor provides fantastic soundtrack for passengers Insignia at a price of 580 euros (again, the recommended price for Germany, including VAT).
