At the Auto Show in New York the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was revealed and it just might worry all performance SUVs.
The new TrackHawk is the combination of a Grand Cherokee SRT8 and Hellcat. The main ingredient, the heart of a Hellcat, is hiding under the hood.
The V8 unit with a displacement of 6.2 liters equipped with a mechanical compressor develops 717 hp and 874 Nm of torque - figures similar to those of Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat muscle cars.
From 0 to 60 mph (96 km / h) the new Grand Cherokee TrackHawk accelerates in 3.5 seconds, thanks to huge power and all-wheel drive, while the maximum speed it can reach is 290 km / h!
The new TrackHawk is able to go a quarter of a mile (402 meters) in 11.6 seconds and indicates a speed of 116 mph (186.7 km / h) at the end of it. In addition, the manufacturer claims that the new model, which weighs 2,433 kilograms, may tow without any problems up to 3,266 kilograms.
The Trackhawk version will be available only with an automatic transmission in eight steps, which underwent some changes from the Challenger and Charger versions. The new gearbox transfers power to all four wheels, electronically controlled by a limited differential on the rear wheels. Depending on the selected mode the force on the drive wheels can be divided into several categories: 40 - 60 in automatic mode, in the winter 50 - 50, 60 - 40 in the towing mode, 35 - 65 in sport mode, or 30 - 70 in the circuit variant.
The engine received a greater capacity for oil and eight-speed automatic transmission was changed, receiving a Track system that reduces shift times to just 160 milliseconds. The Brembo braking system is new and comes with yellow calipers, 6-piston front axle and 4-piston on rear axle.
The two sets of Brembo brakes, 40 cm (on the front axle), 35 cm (on the rear axle), can slow the Trackhawk model very efficiently. The manufacturer says that the model slows from 100 km / h to 0 in just 35 meters.
On the exterior the new Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk does not differ too much from a Grand Cherokee SRT8, lacking fog lights and receiving a new rear diffuser with double final, which hints at the BMW X5 M.
Also, we have 20-inch wheels, 10 inches in width shod with 295/45 ZR20 tires size with “TrackHawk” logos and the inscription “Grand Cherokee Supercharged”. Forged wheels that are lighter by 5.4 kg are likewise available.
The SUV interior is very luxurious and is equipped with Uconnect multimedia system with 8.4-inch display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a unique menu Trackhawk Performance. The speedometer is graded up to 200 mph (322 km / h), and on the steering wheel the logo “TrackHawk” can be found.
Among its unique systems is the “Valet” function, which limits the power, torque and gearbox to only the first step. Disconnect the “Launch Control” system, and the car is effectively turned off, meaning no one can “take it for a spin” without its owner!
