Although Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass are not the most typical vehicles in Europe, they have been modernized. The facelift brought the jeep a larger diesel engine.

The Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot models will come with a new 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine in the future. The newcomer makes in the jeeps for and provides better performance than the Zwoliter-diesel, which it replaces. The 2.2 CRD mobilized 3600-4200 revolutions per minute, an output of 120 kW (163 hp) and 1400-3600 tours are on a torque of 320 Nm on manual six-speed transmission.
This is compared to the data of the detached 2.0 CRD a performance increase of 16 percent and three percent increase in torque.

A lot of technology in the engine of the jeeps
The 2.2 CRD Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass are full of improvements. The self-ignition of the jeeps shines among others:
  • Modular and compact engine design
  • Four valves per cylinder, dual overhead camshafts (DOHC) with chain drive
  • common rail injection system, Delphi with an injection pressure of up to 2,000 bar
  • Five fuel injections per combustion event
  • Two balancer shafts, engine oil pump and injection pump drive gear
  • Variable geometry turbocharger with electric actuator
  • Resonator to reduce air noise of the turbocharger
  • Switched on and off piston cooling
  • Highly efficient cooling of the exhaust gas recirculation in support of the Euro V emission standards
  • Strom Switchable bypass in non-cooled exhaust gas stream
  • Intake manifold with integrated intake-valve variable intake turbulence
  • Phase Electronically controlled thermostat and exhaust gas recirculation bypass for faster warm-up phase
  • Filter Standard diesel particulate filter
