Following 2013 standard Malibu, Chevy put forward another hybrid sedan which will enter the the market immediately following LT, LS and LTZ trims of Malibu. 2012 Chevrolet Malibu ECO Was unveiled in New York Auto Show. In a press conference, the vice president of Chevy, Mr. Rick Scheidt quoted that, this hybrid car is performance focused and is the best available option for this money value. He added that, 2012 Chevrolet Malibu ECO can perform with the performance of that of a compact car, even though it is a sedan. Test drive reports said that the new Eco can exemplify a stunning 38-mpg highway fuel economy, with the gorgeous gas-friendly engine. While 26 mpg in city.
A lithium ion battery as well as electric motor generator is the key elements to improve the efficiency beyond 30 mpg. They offer braking along with start stop functionalities, with regeneration, the report adds.
Exterior features of the 2012 Chevrolet Malibu ECO is mostly same as that of predecessors and cousins, but can be distinguished by new aero dynamic supporting rearview mirrors and tail lamps. Other major specification is the bottom covering of this new Malibu, which is made for delivering more dynamicity, and it covers around fifty percent of bottom portion. Wheels are 17 inch in the standard model, with this bottom covering attachments. The tyres are low rolling friction free which also contributed to the increased fuel efficiency.
The 2012 Chevrolet Malibu ECO engine is 2.4 liter four cylinder, with direct injection facility. This engine can deliver 180 HP, and is coupled with next generation transmission system of six speed and basically automatic. Along with the direct injection there is an eAssist system also is wmployed in this car, which will store extra power (around 40 HP, as seen in the press release), in the series of lithium ion batteries. And this extra power will be employed whenever required, especially in the time of quick shifting and acceleration. The start stop system associated with new Malibu is very helpful in case of starting and restarting. The eAssist installation will help Malibu Eco to continue its journey up to 550 miles without any interruption.
The sales are expected to start in 2012 summer. There are no approximations about the prices, which will be published shortly.
Canadian tax software companies have provided for applicable tax credits and rebates for hybrids and electrics for tax year 2012, and if gas prices escalate as often happens during the summer months, sales could be brisk.
Chevy releases said that, 2012 Chevrolet Malibu ECO will face tough competition from,
Toyota Camry,
Honda Accord and
Hyundai Sonata. All
the three are good enough in exterior interior and engine details to raise a competence to the model, reviewers too tell.
