Soon the Geneva Auto show will kick off and BMW promises a lot of good things there. The new generation BMW 5 Series Touring will have its world premiere at Geneva along with the new BMW 4 Series and BMW i8 Proton Frozen Black Edition.
Compared to the current model, the new BMW 5 Series Touring has slightly larger exterior dimensions and obviously offers more space for passengers and luggage. The acoustic experience and levels of comfort for rear passengers were also optimized.
Even with all the seats occupied, the luggage compartment of the new BMW 5 Series Touring has a capacity of up to 570 liters - ten liters more than its predecessor's space provided. Storage volume can be expanded up to 1700 liters (an increase of 30 liters), if necessary.
Working load permitted is considerably higher than the current model. Effective use of space is improved by a number of practical details. Bottles with a volume of one liter can be stored now in the doors and the cup-holders in the center console can also receive a larger volumes. Dividing / folding seatback in 40:20:40 ratio can be done by simply pressing a button in the trunk. Adjusting the angle of the rear seat backrest is available as an option.
When the marketing for the new BMW 5 Series Touring start in June 2017, four engines will be available from the latest generation. Two of these will be combined from the start with the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive.
Other variants will follow during the year, combined with conventional rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Engine efficiency, optimized aerodynamics and lower weight by 100 kilograms on average compared with the equivalent current models, mean a reduction of up to 11 percent in fuel consumption and emissions, depending on the motorization variant.
With a clear design and an upgraded chassis, the new BMW 4 Series continues its success story. Air intakes, headlights and taillights with LED technology, are available as standard and emphasize the exclusive and sporty aspect of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe, BMW 4 Series Convertible and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. Electroplated elements, chrome applications and new glossy black finishes of the center console gives the interior additional notes of elegance.
With the BMW i3, which captures a large market share, and the special edition of the BMW i8, but also the BMW iPerformance models which will come soon, the BMW Group expands its global leadership in sustainable mobility. The BMW i3 is the most successful electric car in the premium segment compact class. Also, the BMW i8 continues to dominate the category with a considerable advance. Due to the i8 models and BMW iPerformance, BMW is the most successful carmaker in the premium hybrid plug-in segment in the world.
The portfolio of exclusive special editions, limited series, of the sports hybrid plug-in model BMW i8 continues to expand. The BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Black Edition will make its world premiere at the 2017 edition of the Geneva Motor Show. Also during 2017, BMW i will launch the BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition, another limited edition with an exceptional design.
